Looking for work
- You should never pay to get a job. A genuine employer never asks for money.
- Trial shifts must be paid. Pay must be at least the minimum wage or award rate, plus super.
- Don't hand over your passport or visa documents to an employer to keep.
- Look up the business: check its listing and reviews here, and search its ABN on abr.business.gov.au.
- Meet in a public place or at the actual workplace for the first time, and tell a friend where you're going.
- Read Your Rights at Work to learn your basic rights and where to get free help.
Hiring someone
- Check the applicant's work rights through the government's VEVO service, with their consent.
- Use applicants’ contact details only for that job.
Dealing with businesses
- Check reviews and the business's contact details before paying.
- Pay using methods that give you a receipt or buyer protection, and keep records.
Protect your information
- Only show your phone number publicly if you need to. Scammers collect them.
- Never share sign-in codes. ThaisInTown will never ask for your code, password or bank details.
- Our emails only come from @thaisintown.com.
A badge isn't a guarantee
A green check means someone vouched for a person after meeting them. It isn't an ID or background check. Read How community verification works to see what it means and what it does not.
