ThaisInTown เกิดขึ้นจากความตั้งใจที่จะสร้างพื้นที่สำหรับคนไทยในออสเตรเลีย ให้สามารถค้นพบ เชื่อมต่อ และแบ่งปันข้อมูลที่เป็นประโยชน์ต่อการใช้ชีวิตในแต่ละวัน

ThaisInTown started with one aim: to make a place where Thais in Australia can discover, connect and share what helps with everyday life.

Over the past few years the Thai community in Australia has grown a great deal. More people come to study, work, travel and build their lives here, and Thai businesses and services have grown with them. But more choice and more information have not always made it easier to find what you need.

Which Thai restaurant actually tastes right to a Thai? Where is a doctor, lawyer or accountant who speaks Thai? What is on in the community this weekend? And that great tip someone shared months ago: where do you find it again?

The answers already exist, but they are scattered across Facebook, Instagram, online groups and other platforms, so the thing you saw once and wanted to come back to is often gone.

ThaisInTown exists to fix that.

We want to make information about Thai life in Australia easier to find, and to make living far from home feel less like being on your own.

และถึงแม้จุดเริ่มต้นของเราจะอยู่ที่ชุมชนไทย แต่สิ่งที่เราอยากสร้างไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่แค่ “สิ่งที่เป็นไทย”

ถ้าคุณค้นพบร้านอาหารจีนที่อร่อยมากและอยากแนะนำให้คนไทยคนอื่น ๆ รู้จัก คุณก็ควรสามารถแบ่งปันได้ ถ้าคุณพบคุณหมอ นักกฎหมาย นักบัญชี หรือธุรกิจที่ไม่ได้เป็นของคนไทย แต่ให้บริการได้ดีและคุณอยากบอกต่อ สิ่งนั้นก็มีคุณค่าเช่นกัน

The name ThaisInTown comes from a simple idea: wherever you are in Australia, we want to help you find the Thai people, community, businesses and services around you.

Today you might be in Melbourne, looking for a good Thai restaurant or a service you can talk to in Thai. One day you might travel to Sydney and want to know which Thai restaurants are there, where Thai events are on, or which communities you could get to know.

Wherever you are, or wherever you are going, we want ThaisInTown to be one of the first places you think of when you look for anything to do with the Thai community around you.

And although we start with the Thai community, what we want to build is not limited to “things that are Thai”.

If you find a great Chinese restaurant and want other Thais to know about it, you should be able to share it. If you find a doctor, lawyer, accountant or business that is not Thai-owned but serves you well, that is worth passing on too.

In the end, what matters is not whether something is “Thai”, but whether it helps Thais live better in Australia.

  Businesses can list themselves, and we can use data and a review process to help confirm details such as Thai ownership or whether a service is offered in Thai.

• Reviews from the community

  We want Thais to be able to share real experiences with each other. A review from another Thai can see things a general review misses, especially about taste, communication or the experience of a service.

  The goal is not to say which place is “the best”, but to give the community many points of view to make up their own minds.

  There is always something happening in the Thai community in Australia: events, concerts, community activities and meet-ups in every city.

  ThaisInTown wants to be where Thais find out “what’s on right now?”

  Building a good life in Australia is about more than being Thai. So we publish content that helps Thais understand life here: tax, government services, work, the law and other things worth knowing.

  Some articles are written by our team; others are information we have gathered so it is easier to find.

  That might be a discount at a Thai restaurant, everyday groceries Thais use, or other offers we think are worth having.

ThaisInTown wants to be a place everyone can take part in. You might have just arrived in Australia or have lived here for years. You might want to recommend a good restaurant, a Thai-speaking doctor, an accountant who sorted out a problem, or an event you think other Thais should know about.

Those experiences matter, because what you find today might help someone tomorrow.

At the same time, we want a community where people respect each other. We welcome many opinions and experiences, because different people can have very different experiences of the same place or service. What we do not want is the community’s space used to harass, defame or harm others.

We believe in different opinions, but not that difference has to become conflict.

So we have rules for content, and we can use technology, including AI, as part of how content is checked, to keep the community constructive and friendly.

Building a good community does not mean telling everyone what is right or wrong in every situation. Real life has plenty of grey areas, and what fits one situation may not fit another.

What we want to do is give members the information and knowledge to make informed decisions.

Work and employment in Australia is one example. As Thai businesses grow, many Thais come to work for them. So we use the platform to share, where it fits, information about rights and responsibilities at work.

We are not here to blame anyone. We want employers and workers alike to have the basic information to understand what the law expects and what good practice looks like.

Because for us, helping Thais live well in Australia includes helping them understand their rights, their duties and their choices.

We want ThaisInTown to be a place where people find useful information that has been properly checked.

Our team takes part in checking it, and we can use technology to help: reviewing content, spotting anything unusual and keeping information in order. We believe trust comes from the checks, from where the information comes from, and from the community taking part.

We want you to have enough information to choose for yourself. Whether it is a restaurant, a shop, a business or a service, there does not have to be one answer for everyone. One person may love one place while someone else prefers another.

What ThaisInTown wants to do is bring that information, those experiences and points of view together somewhere easy to search, so members can decide for themselves.

ThaisInTown was founded by a Thai who has lived in Australia for about 10 years. In that time the Thai community here has changed enormously, from a small community with few Thai businesses into one with ever more people, businesses, services and events.

But as everything grew, the information became more scattered too. So the idea for ThaisInTown started with a simple, everyday problem:

“If I want rad na like I used to eat in Thailand, where do I even look?”

ThaisInTown is an attempt to answer that question.

From that small start, we want to grow a platform alongside the community, and hope that one day, when Thais in Australia need to find something, they think of ThaisInTown.

ThaisInTown is not meant to be just a website that collects information. We want a place where Thais can discover, share, connect and help each other.

We may start with Thai restaurants, businesses and services, but we hope to grow into a place that helps Thais find good things all around them: community, daily life, work, travel and new opportunities in Australia.

Life in Australia can bring many opportunities, and always something new to learn.

Sometimes what you need is just a restaurant that tastes like home.

Sometimes it is a doctor you can describe your symptoms to in Thai.

Sometimes it is information about tax, work or government services that helps you understand life here.

And sometimes it is just knowing that in your town there are other Thais living the same kind of life.

ThaisInTown wants to make all of that easier to find. Because even when we are far from home, we don’t have to feel on our own.

And it all comes back to the one thing we want to see:
